Our Story...

The Sugar Hollows is “some kind of rock band” from Richmond, VA. What began in 2020 as a quarantine-era apartment wall jam session between founding members Mike and Gabe quickly evolved into a full-fledged project rooted in shared influences and southern storytelling. Early shows across Virginia and North Carolina featured covers from artists like Jim Croce, Brent Cobb, and Kings of Leon before the band began developing their own sound.

By 2022, The Sugar Hollows had solidified an early core lineup featuring Mike, Gabe, Sean, Noah, and Hayden, and released their first original singles, Follow the River and Sweet Virginia Girl.

Following those early releases, the band hit the road for their first East Coast tour, playing major cities from Georgia to Delaware, appearing on regional radio, and performing at festivals throughout Tennessee and the Southeast.

In May 2024, they released their sophomore album Radio Waves, a 10-track collection recorded at Good Weather Records, mixed by Jacob Sommerio (English Oak Recording), and mastered by Carlos Chafin (In Your Ear Studios). Written in part at a remote Virginia cabin, the record marked a creative leap for the band, with standout tracks like Slow Lane, Headin’ South, and Silver Bullet further shaping their identity.

In 2025, Owen joined the band on electric guitar, bringing a fresh dynamic and an improvisational edge that quickly became a highlight of the group’s live shows. His expressive soloing added new energy to the band’s evolving sound while honoring the foundation built in earlier years.

Now in 2026, The Sugar Hollows continue to build momentum with performances at FloydFest, Riverrock, the Altria Theater, and more. Drawing inspiration from Richmond’s rich and eclectic music scene, the band is currently writing and recording their third studio album, set for release in Summer 2026.
